Tongue Tie Release

A "Solea laser tongue tie release" in adults refers to a procedure where a dentist uses a Solea dental laser to surgically cut the tissue of a tongue tie (lingual frenulum) in an adult, effectively releasing the restriction on tongue movement, typically with minimal bleeding and discomfort due to the laser's precise capabilities; this procedure is also known as a "laser frenectomy" and can significantly improve speech, eating, and oral hygiene for adults experiencing tongue tie issues. Key points about Solea laser tongue tie release in adults:

1. Minimal pain: One of the advantages of the Solea laser is its precision and ability to significantly reduce pain. When it comes to tongue- or lip-tie releases, we do use local anesthetic, because these are more invasive soft-tissue procedures. Although Solea itself reduces bleeding and post-operative discomfort, an injection is provided to ensure maximum comfort during tissue release.

2. Fast healing: Healing from a Solea laser frenectomy typically takes 7–10 days, which is significantly faster than the 14-day recovery common with traditional methods. Most patients experience minimal discomfort during healing. In addition to a quicker recovery, releasing a tongue- or lip-tie can also improve sleep quality by increasing tongue mobility and encouraging better nasal breathing—leading to deeper, more restful sleep.

3. Quick procedure: The laser frenectomy using Solea is usually very quick, taking only a few minutes to complete.

4. Improved function: By releasing the tongue tie, adults can experience improvements in speech articulation, eating ability, and oral hygiene.

Important Considerations | Consult a Dentist If you suspect you may have a tongue tie as an adult, it's crucial to consult a dentist experienced in performing laser frenectomies to discuss if this procedure is right for you.

Is Solea pain-free?

Yes! Most patients report feeling little to no discomfort during Solea procedures. In many cases, anesthesia isn’t even necessary. The laser is designed to work without heat, vibration, or pressure—making it ideal for patients who are nervous about pain or needles.

Solea is a versatile laser used for a variety of procedures, including:

  • Solea Sleep for snoring: A non-invasive treatment that tightens soft tissues in the airway to reduce snoring and improve sleep quality.

Is Solea accepted by Insurance?

Solea treatments are not currently covered by dental insurance, and the fee varies depending on the procedure. If you are interested in Solea treatment, we recommend requesting a separate appointment so we can provide a detailed evaluation and cost estimate based on your needs.

For Solea Sleep/snoring therapy, the initial exam is $89 and includes a CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scan—an advanced 3D imaging technique that helps evaluate your airway. This scan is typically a $250 value but is included with your exam.

Before your appointment, we ask that you download the SnoreLab app (snorelab.com) and track your snoring for three nights. This will help us establish a baseline for your sleep and snoring patterns.
